21st CENTURY LEARNING LAB MODERNIZATION
This project consists of a modernization of two existing classroom buildings, each with six classrooms. One building is completed and occupied, and the other is under construction with an anticipated use in 2017. The demolition plan shows areas to be removed to allow an inter-classroom collaboration. The existing wall-to-wall suspended ceiling will be removed and replaced with ceiling clouds. The hidden and underutilized clearstory windows will be refurbished and re-used to allow natural indirect day lighting. The Learning Lab will promote different methods of teaching and learning. An open floor plan concept and the ability to utilize shared spaces between classrooms allow inter-classroom collaboration among learners and learning facilitators.
